The
concept of the "digital divide" has been extensively studied in
recent years and has generated a lot of discussion and conjecture due to its
potential economic, social, and political ramifications. Studies already
conducted show the disparity between those with access to ICTs and those who
don't hinder economic growth, threaten social cohesion, or cause isolation. The
digital gap is a multifaceted phenomenon that falls into three categories:
national, regional, and global. Multiple divides exist at the national level
rather than just one. For example, within nations, there are divides between
men and women, young and old, rich and poor, and most importantly rural and
urban.
