Awareness of women rights among trainees of teacher education institutions of Bharuch district

Abstract
Women’s have been struggling for their rights from centuries. The full and equal participation of women in political, civil, economic, social and cultural life, at the national, regional and international levels is necessary. The knowledge of laws, rights, acts and legal provision can make women understand their role in family and society and help them in their social upliftment. There are acts and rights for women but many times people are not aware about it, so they exist on papers only and people in the society are not making it practice. So, if awareness will be there then there is hope of practice of it properly. There are insufficient societal efforts for enforcement of educational, judicial, social, political and economic women’s rights in society. The present study was undertaken to study the awareness of women’s rights among trainees of teacher education institutions of Bharuch distrct. The survey method as adopted and data was collected using self made awareness test on educational, judicial, social, political and economic rights for women in India from one hundred and eighty trainees of six teacher education institutions. The data was analyzed using percentage and “t” test. The findings of the study revealed that average number of trainees of teacher education institutions had low level of awareness of rights of women. There for there is need of efforts at institutional, societal and governmental level. The legal awareness which would bring a qualitative change in the social order of the country and help our society aligns with changes at global level.
