Tourism is considered to be one of the fastest growing sectors across the globe. In fact, it has become the mainstay for economic development for various countries generating foreign exchange, income and job opportunities. The state of Odisha has been one of the key tourism hubs in India due to the presence of picturesque tourist spots and places of historical and religious importance. However, despite its richness in natural resources and scenic beauty, the district of Koraput as a tourist destination is finding it tough to attract the domestic as well as foreign tourists due to various factors. The objective of this conceptual study is to identify these factors that are road blocks towards the growth of tourism in the district and suggest appropriate remedial measures.
