Kashmiri music at instance reveals that it has originated with natural circumstances accumulated or adhered by Kashmiri culture and language. Due to simplicity in living and nature fondness, the pure and blessed means of music were innovated, adopted or imported to meet growing recreational aesthetic temper of people. There are many folk songs in Kashmir which are sung during particular seasons or in accompanying to certain occupations, festivals, seasons and social occasions etc. Nend Gevun is one of the forms of folk songs of Kashmir which is related to the agricultural work. The word "Naind" is the changed form of the vedic word "Ninad" of Sanskrit and the word "Gevun" also has originated from Gayan of Sanskrit. The maximum population in Kashmir is an agrarian background and most of the people are engaged with agriculture works.
